This has been my first week of classes at the university where I teach and I think the semester is off to a great start! I'm working with lots of students who are new to me, as well as with new professors, all of whom I'm getting along with great. One difficulty is that I teach from 8 am until 10 pm (even on Fridays!) with gaps in my schedule that are just not quite big enough to get much of anything accomplished, but I will be disciplined and make myself productive. I'm writing this in one of those schedule-gaps, in fact.
A good friend of mine is here visiting from the Pacific coast and is grateful not to be sweating and to have a good internet connection. This weekend Laura and I are headed to Villavicencio, which is not far from Bogotá and which is known as the gateway to Colombia's eastern plains.
In addition, I've submitted my application to stay on another year. Fingers crossed!
Only two more weeks until my trip to Barranquilla for carnaval!
Have a relaxing weekend, everyone, and stay safe in the nasty winter weather.
